Kitchen

Growing up, dinner time was a time the whole family sat around the table and talked about our days! Sitting at the table together was non-negotiable, even as schedules became very busy. During these busy weeknights, the focus was never really on the food we were eating, but the time we spent together. We were lucky to grow up with my grandma just on the other side of town, and we would frequently go to her house for special Sunday night dinners. "Grandma D" was famous for her potato salad, along with her pot roast and beef stroganoff. They say the cooking gene can skip a generation (sorry, mom!!) but somewhere along the way I found joy in cooking for myself! In college, it was meal prep to get through busy weeks of class, work, and rugby. As I've settled into adult life, I've enjoying cooking as a creative outlet, and a way to nourish myself. I also love to use as many local items as I can!

Currently, I get most of my produce through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) box - Adaptations Aloha. I also love to visit local farmers markets or trade with friends! My main principal in the kitchen is to limit as much food waste as I can, so I'm always making creative use of my leftovers. I do most of the cooking for my partner and I, and I enjoy exploring all different types of cuisines. My posts on this page will share what I'm eating and cooking to hopefully provide you with a little culinary inspiration!
